Our Director

Lyndon Wang

Director Lyndon Wang

"I help classically trained string players bridge the gap to the modern stage—mastering the technical foundation they need while gaining the skills to play pop, worship music, and contemporary hits with confidence."

— Lyndon Wang

With a career spanning 25 years across both the concert hall and the modern studio, Lyndon is dedicated to redefining what it means to be a string player in the 21st century. As the Director of the Bay Area String Ensembles (BASE) at Best Lesson Ever, Lyndon brings a unique, high-energy approach to music education that balances rigorous classical foundations with a vibrant, contemporary edge.

Specializing in the "Classical-to-Contemporary Bridge," Lyndon guides students beyond the printed page, teaching them how to master their instruments while exploring the worlds of pop, rock, and worship music. Whether he is coaching a student through a difficult concerto or showing them how to navigate chord charts and improvisation for a church band or a modern remix, his goal is the same: to create confident, versatile musicians who are ready for any stage.

Explore The Strings

At the Open House, students will have the chance to hold and try these instruments for the first time.

🎻

The Storyteller

Violin

The violin plays higher than the other string instruments and is often responsible for melody. It’s lightweight, portable, and widely used in orchestras, chamber music, film scores, and modern genres. A common starting instrument with lots of ensemble and performance opportunities.

🎻

The Heart

Viola

The viola is slightly larger than the violin and tuned lower, giving it a warmer, deeper sound. It often plays harmony and inner lines in ensembles. Great for students who like rich tone, supporting roles, and less crowded competition than violin.

🎻

The Foundation

Cello

The cello is played seated and covers both bass lines and lyrical melodies. Its range overlaps the human voice, which makes it expressive and versatile. Used in orchestras, chamber groups, solo repertoire, and contemporary music. Requires more physical space but is very intuitive for many students.
